Carrying water from the Pentland Hills, the Baird Burn enters Edinburgh at Redford and weaves its way north east to meet the sea at Portobello. Although in normal flow the burn seems harmless, four times in the last 16 years it has burst its banks, leaving 250 homes and businesses under water.
Our works included the installation of all aesthetic cladding to the structural flood walls. This was a mixture of facing brickwork, reconstituted and natural stone. This challenging contract also saw us install the large feature copings throughout. All works were carried out to rigorous programmes dictated by ever changing climatic conditions.
